Summary: Since my completion of MA at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, I have been with the current company called Ishihara Sangyo Kaisha, Ltd. or ISK, as an exportation manager. My job here is firstly to ship our product called Titanium Dioxide, an ingredient for pigments/inks/cosmetics, to foreign countries. The company has gained sales footholds in various countries, and my experiences are the United States, Europe (EU area), Russia and other areas which used to be within the former Soviet union, the Middle East (Iran, UAE), and South Africa partially. In order to get the shipments done properly, I need to arrange timely vessels, negotiate with our local distributors and/or end-users of our products. Beyond all, what is needed for this job is time management; when the product is produced, when the customer needs our products, when the vessel is available for living up to customers' requirement of the cargo arrival. The second job is to negotiate with forwarders and/or shippers of our products to ease our financial burden to pay ocean freights. Amid the worldwide recession, our company is not an exception to reduce expenses, and cutting the freight payment is one of the keys to this obligation. Therefore, my negotiation is embedded in our management of finance flow. The third is to collect information upon the overseas market and synthesize all of that to do marketing. Some are translation of local in-English papers and/or magazines. Others are direct communication with our customers or local subsidiaries via video conference/telephone.
