Summary: Writer, photographer and filmmaker Roland Hagenberg grew up in Vienna, Austria. His stories and photographs are featured in magazines such as Vogue and Architectural Digest. During the 80s he documented the world of artists in New York collaborated on book projects with Keith Haring, Francesco Clemente, Robert Mapplethorpe and others.
Hagenberg is the director of several documentaries about contemporary Japanese architects. SurFACE was released on DVD and features Tadao Ando, Kengo Kuma, , Kazuyo Sejima, Toyo Ito , Arata Isozaki and others.
Hagenberg is also the author of 14 Japanese Architects and 20 Japanese Architects. Both works were published in English, Japanese and Chinese. Stern Magazine released his book on photographer Nobuyoshi Araki in 2009 . WOWOW TV station in Japan commissioned Hagenberg to write songs for TV dramas.
His latest projects are the exhibition Architecture of the Future in Fukuoka (December 2009) and the release of a his music CD titled Show Me featuring 16 new songs by Roland Hagenberg.
